As an author and devoted traveler, I closed my long-time New Mexico practice of clinical and forensic psychology in 2008 to devote more time to writing, and beachcombing. My husband, a former attorney, and I divide our time between Santa Fe and West Palm Beach where our two adult sons visit us regularly (but not often enough). Wow! This writing (and beachcombing) is really fun! I recommend it to all of you who have ever thought about starting that memoir or novel or article. Smashwords makes publishing incredibly easy, and who knows, you might even sell a couple of hundred thousand copies (I haven't yet)! After years of living in Roswell with its sometimes offbeat attractions and history--the Roswell Incident, for example--writing "Roswell, Your Travel Guide to the UFO Capital of the World!" (available in paperback and as an ebook) gave me the chance to share these interests with visitors to the Land of Enchantment. I have also published a shorter selection from it, "Roswell, NM: The Ten Best Free Things To Do," as an ebook. Next I wrote a book about a distinctly different region, one I have loved since my childhood spent knee-deep in the marshes and saltwater creeks of the South Carolina coast. "Tales from Brookgreen: Folklore, Ghost Stories, and Gullah Folktales in the South Carolina Lowcountry" (paperback and ebook) recounts stories from Brookgreen Gardens, South Carolina's popular tourist attraction just south of Myrtle Beach. I am happy to see that the three shorter collections of stories from this longer work are quite popular: "Lowcountry Ghosts," "Gullah Ghosts," and "Crab Boy's Ghost." I hope to get back to work on more lowcountry ghost stories soon. Did you know that Herman Melville, of "Moby-Dick" fame, wrote a series of articles describing the Galapagos Islands? Neither did I until recently. My latest project has been to put Melville's articles together with wonderful photographs taken by my son Moses in the Galapagos Islands, and writing introductory material to create a book for the modern visitor to the place Melville called "The Encantadas." We call the book "In the Galapagos Islands with Herman Melville" (paperback and book) and hope this glimpse into the "Enchanted Isles," written over 150 years ago, will enrich the visits of today's travelers. I've also published two short portions of it as ebooks that feature even more of Moses' great photos: "Galapagos Islands Birds" and "Galapagos Islands Landscapes." Recently I've gotten interested in researching the famous New Mexico outlaw Billy the Kid, especially the time he spent in Santa Fe. Did you know that more movies have been made about him over the years than about ANY OTHER individual? I have already completed one short ebook, "Billy the Kid's Jail," with more to come. It's hard not to write more about Santa Fe in the 1870s and 1880s than about Billy. I get lost in reading Santa Fe newspapers from that era. So many fascinating details!

DONATION - for the months of December and January, I'll be donating $1 from each book sale to the NZ Coastguard. Help support this worthy cause by buying Sea Gypsies. I’ve been involved with boating most of my life and got the sailing bug the hard way, like most Kiwi kids, by crewing for the local Gisborne Yacht Club on the east coast of the North Island. Back in the 1960s sailing dinghies were hard to come by so I built my own, from then onwards I’ve progressed and learnt the art of sailing and all that it involves. After my college years in Gisborne I gained boat building experience in the old school of boat construction in the traditional style of building wooden vessels. Since then I’ve worked for professionals in New Zealand and overseas as boat building and design work has led to greater things, such as ‘Peterborough canoes’, the North American Indian-style craft named after the city where it was designed, also repairs to Dragon boats and Laser sailing dinghies for a firm called ‘Patagonia Yachts’ in River Street, Toronto, Ontario. After returning to New Zealand, my work involved larger vessels such as the ‘Spirit of New Zealand’ and my last commission was ‘Mari Cha III for ‘Sensation Yachts’ near Henderson in West Auckland.

Dr. Smith began his career in “field studies” in 1979 on the Philippine island of Mindanao as a twenty year old student. As a child I grew up in Wyoming, Michigan the eldest child of 2 sisters and 2 brothers, (including another half brother). At around the age of 15 I was forced to take control as head of the household when my parents divorced, more or less forcing me to take on the responsibility of raising my sister Laura (my sister Alisha, the youngest of the two going with my mother) and my brother Eric as well as taking care of my father in the months that followed after his health diminished. At the age of 16 I was forced to quit high school, and sought employment to help take care of my father and his continued health issues, though by then my mother had won custody of all my sibblings. In January 1998, my father passed away after taking a fall a few days after christmas, at that time, with how my life was going and my outlook on things (Way Emo) i was hoping for his death as it was the only way at that time that i felt my life would have a purpose or meaning, i was starting to hate all my friends and family members who had gone on to college, found lovers, and started having famlies of their own, while my life was a constant rut. In the end he passed away and I went to live with my maternal grandparents, who taught be a lot about the real world, life, love, and family. In 2000 after the passing of both my grandparents, I went back to school and received my GED. In 2004, thanks to the assistance of a pastor (John Collins), I was able to go to college and major in pre-law. While at college I took on several other areas of study to include, diversity in society, psychology, philosophy, sociology, history and humanities. These classes helped me in understanding a lot about my full potential as well as the world around me. In 2005 I became a volunteer for CASA (court Appointed Special Advocates) for abused and Negelcted children, and did this until late 2009 when my own health issues began to interfer with my daily life. Having no insurance because of a cheap employer (Advance Securtiy) i either ignored my health issues or went to free clinics which were able to extend things. In December of 2010 thanks to the New Health Care Act i was able to obtain health insurace, only to find out a few months ago that i have NASH, more or less known as Non-Alcoholic Liver Issues, and that i now have 5 - 15 years before i will need a liver transplant, that is of course if i can get my other health issues in check before that time. Writing Motivation: What motivates me to write is my ability to always think and see things from outside of the box... in fact for me there is no box, I just have an odd way of looking at things. Or as some of my professors said in college, "I live in a constant state of parinoia." which i agree is true. Genres: Currently my most recent work is in the genre of historical fiction (Titanic: Echo of the Dying Confession) My reasons for writing about the Titanic as an historical fiction derived from an idea that my grandfather had about the titanic being sunk on purpose. Following this idea I created the novel which shows the possibility of this notion as well as digs deeper into the heart of mans vengeance and the wrath of God. Add to this a book i just came out with called "The heat of Passion Doctrine: Kill your Spouse and Get Away with Murder" and one can see that obscured world i live in... Future works: I am also working on 2 other novels at the moment, one titled "Reasons to be Missed" that deals with a young girl dealing with the troubles in her life (cancer and love life issues). As well as working on a book about the murder of my Cousin Jeff Dryden who was abused by his Girlfriend who eventually killed him buy stabbing him in the neck when he decided to leave her. This book is very dear to my heart and is taking me a little bit longer than expected but i am working on it. This site is my way of letting my fans know more about me as well as obtain copies of my works both ebook and print at a discounted rate. Thanks for reading and being a fan...

This ebook had its beginnings a few years ago, submitted as an essay towards a psychology degree at Massey University, NZ. Today I remain alarmed at the high rates of child homicide in many countries, particularly in my home country, New Zealand. I believe that with a lot of heart and much hard work, regardless of what country we live in, we can reduce the levels of abuse and reduce the homicide rates for children in our communities. I have seen firsthand the results of a child brought up in a violent family. I can only hope that more and more families will realise that children cannot be expected to grow into healthy, fully functioning adults if they are exposed to severe physical punishment, mental cruelty, sexual abuse and neglect. The third trilogy is about ghosts and extraterrestrials and how their presence on Earth affects those of us alive in the physicality paradigm. Mr. Garcia has researched into these things carefully and put much more reality in his fiction than would be advisable to someone who does not wish to get a visit from men in black suits. However, the books are written and copyrights have been awarded. Let them come…

I’m a writer who likes to research her topics. I pride myself on getting an ‘inside’ view by having conversations with people – and offering their perspectives to my readers without judgment or prejudice. Often the people I interview lead the sorts of lives that many of us have only read about – or might imagine in our private fantasies. Whether I'm having conversations with sex performers or men and women confessing about their casual sex encounters, there will always be something to surprise and delight the reader. My non-fiction is derived from conversations and background research. My fiction comes out of these encounters and my imagination – that part of our minds that can run wild and untamed, if we can let it.

Communication and Reconciliation: moving towards embrace by Jed Stone Communication and Reconciliation: moving towards embrace by Jed Stone Sep. 28, 2011 $3.99 22430 words Sample 20%
Author bio:
I began writing professionally over 40 years ago, when I started work for a traditional English weekly newspaper. The five journalists at the Middleton Guardian sat round a table in the middle of a room no more than 15 metres square. All of life flowed across that table. My first assignment was the Founder’s Day Service for a posh girls’ school in the town. I was 16 years old and surrounded by about 1,000 girls. This is a tough life, I thought, but someone’s got to do it. I’ve lived in over 30 houses in my short life on earth. And I’ve had so many jobs, inside and outisde of journalism, that I’ve lost count. Some of them I’ve been happy to forget. But I’ve always kept coming back to journalism in some form or other, whether its writing, editing, design, photography or spin doctoring. I’ve tried to be serious about making money, but discovered I’m more interested in experiencing life in all its fullness. LIfe’s too important to waste with work that has no meaning.
