There were still wars, greed, desire, competition, violence, anger, and power struggles. Only now we were destroying the whole planet at an alarming rate. I set to find out why no one had ever managed to change the direction we were heading. It came to me that the reason we were failing was that we were not looking at the whole. Sure, we were trying to fix bits of the world, but as we always saw each problem in isolation, and never in relationship, when we fixed something, we broke something else. I realised that unless I investigated every aspect of the world with my mind, I could never hope to understand it. After finishing the book this year I still felt like a beginner at all of this, so, instead of leaving the book to rot on a bookshelf somewhere, I decided that the book had to come alive. The evolving book was born. A book where we could all begin to discover more about ourselves, and change the way we think about our place in the world. There is no end for this book, it is, like you and me, in a state of constant evolution, never static, always changing.

	Author bio: Growing up in Long Island, New York in an upper class Jewish family, who would have ever guessed my life would turn out as it did. I had everything a kid could want. It was perfect. My mom told me I was around 3 when the beatings began. Whenever my dad was in “a mood” he would come looking for me. I was like the punching bag that most guys keep in the garage. As a child, I believed I was a witch in a past life and that the beatings were payment for my sins, hence the name of my book, Punished for Purpose. I failed to bond to people. The abuse, coupled with the fact that no one was protecting me, solidified my belief that people could not be trusted. I was 13 when my mom left us in search of a new life. That was when my father’s violence escalated. One day he began to beat me failing to notice that I had a friend in the house. Then everything changed. Afraid that he would get in trouble, he hid a handgun and told the police I threatened to kill him with it. I was committed to a mental institution for the criminally insane. I tried to kill myself several times. In order to protect me from myself, they tied me to a bed in a straight jacket in a solitary room and kept me drugged. By the time I was released, the damage was done. On a suicide mission, I spiraled. I was made a ward of the court and sent from home to home. Unable to rebound from my circumstances, I started shooting intravenous drugs at the age of 16. The drugs helped to push the memories away. I gave birth to my daughter when I was 19, but even my love for her couldn’t save me. On January 5, 1987 after being arrested for prostitution several times, I was taken into the woods by two gunmen and raped severely. Not being able to endure one more beating, I begged them to shoot me. That night my life was saved by a stranger and within 24 hours I was in a safe shelter. It was there that I began talking about my childhood. I learned that I had protected my father at the price of killing myself. Slowly but surely I began to see that I had value and that ‘maybe’ my dad was wrong. Two years later, at the age of 26 I took in my first abused teenager. I knew at that time this was my calling. It was around that time that a man who really believed in me asked me this question “Lauri, Do you know the difference between you and Gandhi, Mother Theresa, and Martin Luther King Jr?” I was intrigued. He said, they didn’t just think about doing things, they did them. That’s it. He also said “If you put fleas in a jar and close the cover, they will hit their heads on the lid. After a few hits they will jump short. When you release them from the jar, they will continue to jump “short." No matter how long they’re out of the jar, they will never return to their full potential for fear of hitting their heads. Lauri, you are living your life like you are still in the jar.” That was when I lifted the lid off my life and starting believing everything was obtainable. I let go of all preconceived limitations. I had a GED education, no practical job skills and within a few years I was earning well over 6 figures and I had five abused teenagers living in my home. Today I am an executive at a Fortune 100 company, an author, an international speaker, I have been a mother to 30 abused teens and I have a nationwide foundation for street kids. I realize now I was never being punished for sins in a past life, but rather prepared for the most amazing life imaginable. It is the memories from the darkest times of my life that I must draw from to help the children that enter my door. If I had to do it all over, I wouldn’t change a thing. Having processed no thought of what to do next, I am catapulted back into the bathroom with Rita. Do not turn on the light, scary…no light…Talk quietly…No big noises…quiet voices…Do not touch…Touch is scary… I quietly whisper into the darkness. “I am here with you sweetie…it is okay now…the bad man is gone… We are on the other side now…no more hurt honey…no more bad people here…Please don’t hurt Rita anymore…” The creaking of a door behind me interrupted the intensity of the moment. My eyes now adjusted, I turned my head. I see Mary quietly tiptoeing from her room. Her large eyes tell me she is scared. I put my finger over my lips as if to say, shhhh. Now Yvette is coming. Quietly they collapse to the floor, falling into the darkness by Rita. The only sound is Rita’s heavy rhythmic, breathing. She is rocking back and forth slowly with her arms wrapped tightly around her legs and her head tucked between her knees. The girls gently put their hands on Rita and they too begin to cry. They are hugging each other. Rita lets out a soft cry and hugs them in return. Although the small room still remained dark, the light in the room that night was undeniably brilliant as we walked together out of the darkness. Wiping the tears from Rita’s face, we all stood up together and walked downstairs. Although I don’t normally encourage smoking, this is one night I would let the mountains be mountains and the little things lie. As they sat in the garage, passing the cigarette around with their wet faces, I closed my eyes and thanked God. Thank you God for letting me be twelve again, thank you God for my father. Thank you for my little bathroom so long ago, for it is in the pain of my childhood that I have been blessed with the power to take the hand of a child who is in the darkness; and lead them out. Thank you for having me go before them and showing me the way out…

As a Shaman, White Eagle is a Priest, Healer, Teacher, Visionary, Counselor, and Ceremonial Leader but perhaps most important, a Guide in the way of discovering the Truth and Perfect Child within each of us. In the traditional way a Shaman would give a person a Medicine Name usually around the birth time as a vision would be given them however, several years ago during one of his daily Meditations the Great Spirit said for him to start naming people with a Name that describes His Original thought as He Created each of them. This Name describes the perfect pattern of each self as He created them and describes what they not only have always been but also that which they are and ever will continue to be (or better said What Does not Need Fixing). The Medicine name as described by White Eagle helps us understand why we have certain likes or dislikes and habits that are most normal for us, as well as abilities in which we can easily excel and use in our growth. White Eagle explains the Name as well as its Medicine and tendencies but always reminds us that we are ever in growth as to become greater channels of the Great Spirit's Light and Love and to do this we are ever learning new Medicine to add to that of our beginning so as to please The Creator. This is our true desire of our inner child. In addition to the naming vision, White Eagle has also been given abilities in vision such as looking inside ones body to detect illness or infirmary, finding objects that are considered lost, going backwards or forwards in time as well as others. White Eagle has also been given the ability to Channel or so as to say, allow another person's guides to speak to them through the body of him as well as to channel his own personal guides in an advisory capacity about all matters current and past that are having an immediate influence on one. White Eagle lives in what might best be described as altered states and does not use or condone the abuse of any drugs nor of anything or of anyone. Another of the abilities that has been given to White Eagle is for him to walk in another's moccasins in a past life review in order to release carryover problems that often occur from past lives. This process takes several days to complete and the product is specific documentation and a channeled review. White Eagle's knowledge of the Spirit world also provides dream state interpretations as well. As White Eagle recognizes that in a respectful sharing way, those who have resources to share will be the first to benefit in the sharing process. However lack of money or resources are often manifestations of symptoms of other Spiritual dilemmas and he would never deny his services to anyone because of their lack of a comfortable money supply. 	Author bio: White Eagle is a practicing Medicine Man who has been blessed by the Great Spirit Father with both Healing and Vision Medicine. In the last period of time much information about the coming events as pertaining to the reawakening of Spirituality has been provided to Him by His guides, or Angels so to speak, as well as by The Creator Himself in order to bring forth a new and heightened life in the Spirit of each of His creation. This document is a product of this endeavor as given by the Great Spirit for him to do in answer to his prayer for guidance in his daily meditation. As a Shaman, White Eagle is a Priest, Healer, Teacher, Visionary, Counselor, and Ceremonial Leader but perhaps most important, a Guide in the way of discovering the Truth and Perfect Child within each of us. In the traditional way a Shaman would give a person a Medicine Name usually around the birth time as a vision would be given them however, several years ago during one of his daily Meditations the Great Spirit said for him to start naming people with a Name that describes His Original thought as He Created each of them. This Name describes the perfect pattern of each self as He created them and describes what they not only have always been but also that which they are and ever will continue to be (or better said What Does not Need Fixing). The Medicine name as described by White Eagle helps us understand why we have certain likes or dislikes and habits that are most normal for us, as well as abilities in which we can easily excel and use in our growth. White Eagle explains the Name as well as its Medicine and tendencies but always reminds us that we are ever in growth as to become greater channels of the Great Spirit's Light and Love and to do this we are ever learning new Medicine to add to that of our beginning so as to please The Creator. This is our true desire of our inner child. In addition to the naming vision, White Eagle has also been given abilities in vision such as looking inside ones body to detect illness or infirmary, finding objects that are considered lost, going backwards or forwards in time as well as others. White Eagle has also been given the ability to Channel or so as to say, allow another person's guides to speak to them through the body of him as well as to channel his own personal guides in an advisory capacity about all matters current and past that are having an immediate influence on one. White Eagle lives in what might best be described as altered states and does not use or condone the abuse of any drugs nor of anything or of anyone. Another of the abilities that has been given to White Eagle is for him to walk in another's moccasins in a past life review in order to release carryover problems that often occur from past lives. This process takes several days to complete and the product is specific documentation and a channeled review. White Eagle's knowledge of the Spirit world also provides dream state interpretations as well. As a Healer, White Eagle has many abilities in working with energy, potions, and teas as well as Medicine stones. There have been many instances whereby he has cured someone's headache or hiccups with a single thought. White Eagle will also be the first one to thank another for healing themselves and as he says that he takes no credit but full responsibility in such matters as he only invokes the Will and Love of The Creator. White Eagle guides people in the process of meditation and from time to time holds workshops in learning the Medicine Wheel Way as well as about Plant Spirit, Animal Spirit, and Mineral Spirit Medicines and how we can use them to enrichen our lives. White Eagle sometimes kids around about being a Native American Ghost Buster, but know well that he takes these matters very seriously. Unlike some others, he uses the unlimited potential of Love to help in problems with discarnates, or entities, and possession as they are very dynamic in the well-being of all involved. White Eagle is not a Witch or Witch Doctor, although he has much knowledge about such things and will refuse any who are not aspiring to the highest ideal which is To Walk in Balance and With Harm to No One, Including Oneself! If possible White Eagle will record personal readings on cassette tape and asks that each provide their own tape for use. He says that one receives what they are willing to invest in any matter. He asks that each desiring a reading, prepare and bring a written list of questions to be answered for their own use, as he does not want to see them. White Eagle also makes many ceremonial items and personal items such as Prayersticks, rattles, shields, earrings, necklaces, as well as paintings. Often White Eagle will speak of only charging a commitment to change when asked about receiving money for his services. However, as all truly know, one must be willing to give something away to receive more of anything at any point in time. Gifts or donations of money or other things that might support the work will be welcomed by him. As White Eagle recognizes that in a respectful sharing way, those who have resources to share will be the first to benefit in the sharing process. However lack of money or resources are often manifestations of symptoms of other Spiritual dilemmas and he would never deny his services to anyone because of their lack of a comfortable money supply. Each one should feel comfortable with whatever they feel they should provide as it is a contribution not a fixed price. White Eagle sees it only as a contribution to God and the Church.

Our family lived in the outskirts of a small town in Michigan, where we only lived a pathway away from where my favorite great-grandfather lived. I loved his place because he had an orchard with all kinds of things to enjoy and explore. While playing outside one day, with my brothers and sister, I suddenly fell to the ground, experiencing a great amount of pain. After several days, my mom noticed that I was not walking very well, so she took me to the doctor. After x-rays and an exam, the doctor told my mother that my knee was dislocated and that he would have to tap the knee back into place. Little did I know, that this first doctor's visit would take me on a long journey...a journey through 21 major knee surgeries, in an attempt to correct the congenital problem in both knees. To this day, I live with a bad left knee, that's constantly deteoriating and a rod in my right leg. As my journey continued from there, the memories of a past sexual abuse began to surface and in my early 20's, I lost all hope of having children. There were times that I felt as though I had been stripped of everything in my life, except for the very breath that I breathed. As each loving desire left, desires to ride a bike, drive a car, and have children, God was replacing these desires with a ministry that would encourage and uplift others in need. God took the empty voids in my life and filled them with Himself and gave me the heart that would be able to connect to another heart in need. He had to turn His head for one moment of satisfaction, so that I would follow through with the plan He had for my life. God took a girl that always struggled in school, a girl that felt as though nothing could go right in her life, a girl that lived in her own world of disability, and He took the brokenness and repieced her broken heart, mind and spirit, in a way, where He could allow her to be who she is today. God has shown me over and over again, that we can rise above these moments of despair and we can win the battles in our lives, as long as God is walking through the storm with us.
