Terminal Monday, a Dream of New York City by Lee Edward McIlmoyle Terminal Monday, a Dream of New York City by Lee Edward McIlmoyle Dec. 17, 2011 $4.99 260486 words Sample 15%
Author bio:
I've written so many of these in the last couple of years, I feel like I should be an old pro at it, but alas, words elude me. Who am I? A storyteller. Aren't we all? I also draw, design and make music. I don't have a preferred genre or medium. I'm hoping to make one from the tools coming available now. I live in Canada. It's not as great as it used to be, but I'm still proud. Life here was a lot better before the less intelligent of us started voting in people who want to be Ronald Reagan. I'm married to a woman from NYC, who dabbles quite heavily in the occult and writes many, many book reviews. Someone should start paying her for this. She's quite good. We live with two savage felines. The less said about them, the better. I'm a Capricorn (born on Boxing Day), I'm Bipolar, INFP, LGBT-friendly, my favourite colour is blue, and my favourite number is four. My dream is to sell lots books and comics and music and art and games, buy up lots of property and start a commune for all of my immediate family and loved ones. And then continue to write and whatever until they have to send me to the glue factory. Oh, and I want to get in at least one real rock & roll tour before I die. I may need to start a new band for that.

Post Marked by Mark R. Trost Post Marked by Mark R. Trost Feb. 18, 2011 $2.99 249337 words Sample 15%
Author bio:
Mark R. Trost is an author, an essayist, an editor, a communications consultant, a sage, and a smartass. From 2007 - 2011 Mark R. Trost penned a popular literary blog that exceeded a million hits. He has written a novel: POST MARKED and he gathered his work into an anthology: BEER, BUDDIES, BULLSHIT, WOMEN, SEX, & GOD. The printed word is in evolution. Mark R. Trost is an evolutionist; he redefines words. With the advent of eBooks, literature has changed. Not since Gutenberg has the written word evolved with such extremity. Storytelling evolved from the pub, to the parlor, to the porch, to the paperback, and from the retold tale to the spoken call in the twentieth century. Now prose is propelled toward the blurted vowelless texted and the media messaged. Prose is shedding its scope. Gone are the days of lengthy exposition and landscaped plots. The internet has transformed attention spans in extremes television remotes didn't. Sentenced thoughts and concepts evolved into taglines and images: blurbs and bursts. A visual society. The panoramic novel with the plodded plot is as anachronistic as a kaleidoscope scrim flashing images behind Diana Ross & the Supremes. The scrim remains and the cross cuttings flash but the visuals mute the voices because the strobed static replaces the sound. Soon the lengthy and the loquacious will be spaced on a portioned shelf on the bottom near the librarian‘s knees. Mark R. Trost is a revolutionist; he redefines the art form. - POST MARKED is a contemporary novel restructured into an innovative form. It's a combination of essays: episodic narratives and cultural reflections. Each essay is a velocity wave from a male point of view. Each piece stands alone yet together form a mosaic of a man's life. - BEER, BUDDIES, BULLSHIT, WOMEN, SEX, & GOD contains unique reflections on contemporary culture, the arts, food, sex, politics, theology, and modern relationships. At times Trost is comedic; at times he's didactic. Yet he's consistently raw, real, and revelatory. Mark R. Trost is an evolutionist and a revolutionist. He changes the way we read. He changes the way we engage. He changes the way we think. His words have changed the game.

A: This is hard. Q: Why is making a bio so hard for you? A: Because it's like talking. I don't like to talk; I like to write. Q: But people want to know about authors. Reading a book requires a lot of effort. A: Writing one ain't exactly playtime. Q: That's better. Go ahead, tell us more. Did you have a pleasant childhood? A: Ask my dog; he was there. Q: Your dog is stuffed. He's not a real dog. A: He's more real than you are. You can’t even ask a good question. Q: Here’s one: Why should people read your books? A: Because my puppy will be sad if they don’t. Q: We need to get serious here. How many novels have you written? A: 33. Q: I’ll bet your dog can’t count that high. How long have you been writing? A: I’ll answer if you promise not to kick my dog again (metaphorically). Q: He wouldn’t feel it—he’s stuffed. A: If someone kicked the stuffing out of you, I bet you wouldn’t enjoy it. Q: Would I enjoy it more than reading one of your books? Or would it be equally painful? A: You’re cruel to dogs AND to authors. Q: If you answer my last question, I promise to be nice. How many years have you been writing? A: [mumbles] Q: That’s pathetic. A: Why don’t you ask me about my stories? Q: Stories are for campfires. A: The basis of history’s greatest novels is the story: the story of nations, cultures, families, individuals. The greatest idea that can be expressed in fiction is story. Q: Great, so tell me about your characters. A: Dull and Dumb are not two of my characters, or characteristics. Q: Do you ever write about animals, stuffed or not? A: Rescued greyhounds in Heaven Again, tiny ponies in Only The Impassioned, mudfish in Resurrection Flowers, ghosts in An Atmosphere Of Angels. Q: Ghosts aren’t animals, they’re unsettled spirits. If ghosts continue to read, what will they find in your novels? A: They will find passion, idea, and spirited characters whose lives are a story. And puppies. Lewis, Mark Twain, and the universe—with fictive guest appearances of Johannes Kepler and George MacDonald. S. Dorman is the author of Gott'im's Monster and The God's Cycle in two parts. Also the author of Five Points Akropolis. What is FIVE POINTS AKROPOLIS? An alternate future? An insecure past? Another present made of dense woodlands and waterways ... or of streets and buildings and crowds? Are its populations living beside one another in a welter of frequencies or wavelengths not generally experienced in Place and Time? A particular place called Five Points Akropolis -- This is what Anno Domine 1769, 1900 A.D., and 2017 CE have in common. But what influence does the dwarf-wanderer Pluto have on its fortunes? One of many characters, Willie the grave-digger would like to know, and too Gregoff the Greek. So would True People's scouts Red Fox and Quick Claws. Jayrai, HBBBAH, and Tu are wondering--they want to be back in 2017, their own time. And Quadri, whose working thumbs are the pulse of the gamescape. But "the girl," who seems somehow responsible for all this, isn't saying. Three gangs of kids living on the same spot in different times, meeting up for the first time as Pluto descends. THE GOD'S CYCLE. The cycle is five books, in two parts. In chronological order: GOD'S HOUSE. 1. Return to God's House. 2. Within Without (a.k.a. Within Without God's House). 3. In Winter (a.k.a.

Stephen Romone Lewis lives in Whitman, Massachusetts where he enjoys frozen burritos with his wife and children. Within a year, Stephen left a job as a detox counselor in the city of Quincy and became a high school music teacher in a small, rural town. He wondered what would happen if the inwardly terrified and outwardly apathetic drug dealers he’d met ever clashed with the inwardly terrified and outwardly apathetic teenagers he taught. The answer to that question turned into his first novel, BIG DREAMS little man. With it he strove to bring to life the constant tension and surreal atmosphere of high school and drug addiction. Stephen’s stage monologues, The Day I Was Lactose Intolerant and Kicked in the Head, have been performed at the Eclectic Company Theatre in North Hollywood (www.eclecticcompanytheatre.org). His songs “Condiment Covered Corpse”, “Ned Beatty” and “She Wouldn’t Say” appear on the album Songs About Death by SoLow Records recording artists MSG. Stephen is a founding member of The Society for the Advancement of Hearing Loss (http://hearingloss.servemp3.com/sahl/). The Society for the Advancement of Hearing Loss (SAHL) is a collection of musicians, writers, composers and filmmakers that believe that all people are meant to do more with their lives than be spectators. SAHL encourages its members to lead actively creative lives. When the mood strikes, Stephen records with his band, Audio Spanking. Currently, he is working on his second novel. It chronicles the attempts of a gang of quirky super humans to enslave America. He is also composing a musical detailing a love triangle involving a president, his first lady and the megalomaniac that turned them into zombies. Contact Stephen at bigdreamslittleman@gmail.com.

I became a diabetic in 1958 and insulin dependent two years later; five years after that I was to begin what would be a 45 year journey as a junkie, writer, lover, thief, scholar, asshole and idiot to myself and all those I came in contact with. I split from confines of my home early on and, when cutting school, found myself in Greenwich Village where I met and fell in with those also outside the rules of boredom and adopted a lifestyle that deceived me into thinking I could ever really escape myself.

I am of mixed parentage (a man and a woman) and have lived in more countries than I can count on hands and feet together. I speak several languages, and believe in multiculturalism, tolerance, and free champagne also in economy class. I dislike bigots and fanatics of all denominations. I am hugely uncomfortable with labels, even seemingly benign ones such as 'gay,' 'straight,' or 'sugar-free' and prefer instead to judge people by their sense of humor and shoe size. I believe that everybody, regardless of race or gender, income or size of genitals, should be gay for a year. Over the past two decades, I have published hundreds of stories and novellas and set them free on the Internet, not always under my real name. Some of them have mated with other texts, music and videos, to produce the most curious offspring. One story has left the known universe and is currently a best-seller on Pharus II. Most of my recent books concern the lives and adventures of men, both today, in history, and in the future.

It was during this period that her ground-breaking feature article, “Women, Fat of the Land” appeared widely throughout the U.S. It was June, 1970, and Ms. Joan became the first public confessor to the then unheard of habit of binging and purging, later diagnosed in the 1980s as bulimia. Although the word and the fact of “bulimia” were largely unknown at the time, her compelling story containing her stunning confession was picked up by and published on the front pages of dozens of alternative weekly newspapers, where it struck a chord with more than a million women readers – a chord that resonates to this day. Although her public confession was a major turning point in her life, it nevertheless took Ms. Joan seven more years to kick the habit. Today, she shares her wisdom and experience in a tranquil setting with a select few Ms. Joan is now Director of the Center for Increased Consciousness, and lives near the beach in Santa Monica, California, with her husband, writer Robert Moskowitz. It starts small with many of the basics some instructional guides tend to skip over or breeze through, and expands on the information as you progress. It includes instructions on not only the best way to make your soaps, but what equipment to use for the greatest product results. This helpful how to soapmaking book covers everything from choosing your soap base and molds to adding fragrances, herbs, and color." Excerpt by Shala Kerrigan of Don't Eat the Paste: "One of the best things in my opinion about melt and pour soap crafting is that it's a very friendly craft. You don't need to be a kitchen chemist. It's a craft that's ideal for parents to do with children as gifts or as the start of a home based business. Because of the nature of melt and pour soap, anything that doesn't work out is still usable in your home." Excerpt by Patrice of The Soap Seduction: "What I like about this book is it's just not a book full of projects. Lisa gives you some background on what melt and pour soapmaking is along with tips and tricks as well as facts and safety tips. This book is perfetto for newbs and presents some fun, indoor activity for the kiddos. Throw a soap party and invite your best buds over for a little pinot and soapmaking." Reviews for "Notes from Nadir" As reviewed on the Amazon UK site: "I first started reading this memoir through the author's blog, and I was quickly hooked by her conversational, down-to-earth style. The book - with lots of new content not featured on the blog - follows the author as she leaves behind her LA life and returns to her roots, with lots of vignettes and familial snapshots along the way. A very enjoyable read about trying to fit back into a mould you no longer fit." Talli Roland, author of The Hating Game ******** "This book reads like a memoir and I think it's because it is. Honestly, I wasn't sure I could get through it because it started at an odd point in the character's life. However, after I started, I couldn't put it down. Seriously. Why? It boils down to one thing: The writer is an amazing story teller. The way she describes even the most mundane events drew me in. I had to know what was going to happen next. I can't compare this book to any other books I've read because it isn't. If this isn't a true story, you'll believe it is. The ending really surprised me and it left such a impact, I'm sure I'm not going to forget this novel in a long time. This is part one in the series. The second book is a must read for me." Author bio:
James R. Bottino is a self-admitted computer geek and a creative writing teacher rolled into one. He earned a BS in English Education from Illinois State University and taught high school English in a suburb of Chicago for several years. After teaching all day, he studied creative writing in graduate school at Northern Illinois University. All the while, though, in the deep corners of the night, when no one was looking, he led a double life hacking and building computers and networks. Eventually, unbeknownst to him, word of his activities leaked out, and employment offers started coming in. In the end, he switched his hobby with his profession and became a senior computer / networking administrator for a scientific research laboratory. Just six months into this position, however, tragedy struck when, at the age of 31, James was diagnosed with cancer. Given ten to one odds of living out the year and knowing that his infant daughter would never remember him if he died, he began the fight of his life, enduring massive doses of chemotherapy that killed the cancer but nearly killed him as well. After years of struggle, he survived, but only after enduring systemic nerve damage from the treatments that left him permanently photophobic, phonophobic and with frequent difficulty in using his hands. These events focused his efforts and helped him to prevail in his dual goals: being a father to his daughter and completing his first novel, The Canker Death. James currently lives in a suburb of Chicago, with his wife, daughter, two Australian cattle dogs and far, far too many books and abstruse computers.
