I own a motorcycle, I love both classical music AND hip-hop, and I have a "thing" for vampires. I am not my characters, but I have a lot of fun escaping my world to become one of them for awhile when I write. I love pizza, licorice and strongly dislike peas. The Idiota Code -Poppycock Place Series | by Tobias Dingbat Jan. 28, 2011 | Free! | 27847 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Tobias Dingbat gave up a serious career in circus clowning to freelance as a political speech-writer. It happened that Australian politics entered a golden age of self-serving clowns for whom he wrote meaningless speeches. He is now retired, having divorced a show pony, an elephant and an alcoholic monkey. This first illustrated book is Part 1 of a series to come, which will develop more characters most of them being fully human (for now). I hope to explore the interactions between "bio-born" and "techno-born" creatures, maybe raising interesting issues to confront us over the next 50 years. As I am no scientist, I will imagine with a sense of humour to shrug off criticism. It's a hobby, with a simple wish to entertain people. Your comments are welcome if you wish to email me at >> tobiasdingbat@poppycockplace.com |

| Author bio: I write books across a lot of different genres and styles. I've got some sci-fi, some mystery, some satire, some young adult, a little kids' book, and some just plain old-fashioned stories. Most are short and easy to read, are sometimes funny and often feature unexpected endings. Some of my books are related to each other, sharing characters, locales and plots. Snapdragon Alley, Freak City and Dragon Town comprise "The Dragon City Trilogy" The "All Geeked Up" collection includes World Weary Avengers, Ledman Pickup, and In Constant Contact "The Secret Trilogy" is 'Chaos Fiction' and includes Squatter with a Lexus, Secret Sidewalk, and Hidden Highway "Rays and Nights" is a collection of cross-genre stories that share certain characters, and includes the faux-horror Zombie Nights, the sci-fi Death Ray Butterfly and the coming-of age stories of Raisinheart Fissure Monroe features the intrepid private eye, Dawn Debris. Missy Tonight follows Orange Car with Stripes in these stories of Atheist Comic Sci-Fi Pulp Fiction. Golden is a screenplay based on Time Zone. Jimmyland is a screenplay based on Phantom of the Mall. Inspector Mole pops up all over the place. If you like one, chances are you'll like another, and if you don't, well, thanks for giving it a try! |

| Author bio: Steve Simons is primarily a writer of Science Fiction, aimed at a FAMILY audience, although he has turned his hand (or should that be wordprocessor) to other forms of story. Steve started using his creative imagination as a child, entertaining groups of children in the neighbourhood. Many was the time that the children would get into trouble for getting back home later than heir normal "get in by" time, as they got engrossed in one of Steve's stories. Breifly, Steve put his pen to work, writing short stories for the entertainment of family and freinds, but nothing serious came of that. Then in later life, Steve took up the pen again and started writing scripts and short stories for a children's podshow called KidsCastUK. This grew into two shows, one specialising in Science Fiction and Steve took key writer role on that show. Encouraged to do even more, Steve wrote his first book "The Sphere of Time", this grew to become a 3 book series TSOT 1 -3. |

Invisible Justice | by Kim Jewell May 30, 2011 | Free! | 75453 words | Sample 15% |
| Author bio: I’m a marketing executive and have worked in advertising, marketing and public relations for over fifteen years now – both at the corporate level and also in the agency arena. It has always been a goal of mine to take my writing skills from press releases and ad copy to another level – novel work. My first novel, Invisible Justice, was inspired by a dream in early 2009 and was completed that summer. Brute Justice is the second book in this YA series. Likened by readers to X-Men and Heroes, the Justice series is a contemporary take on teenage super heroes. After a bit of prodding, I took a break from the Justice series to start a darker young adult novel entitled Misery’s Fire, a storyline my husband dreamt one night and passed along to me. Misery’s Fire is a crime thriller detailing the life and death of Grant Williams and his subsequent experience in the afterworld. When his demon caseworker, Angelo, couldn’t break his spirit, he exacted his revenge by sending Grant back to the fiery pits of high school. He finds himself in a new – and much younger body – with nothing but a backpack and a school uniform. Grant must learn to survive not only life on his own, but also the horrors of high school – cliques and chicks included. The storyline covers some heavy topics for teens – gangs, drugs, bullying, violence and death. While the topics are dark, the story is delivered with a sarcastic wit that creates a lighter tone and allows the reader to emotionally connect with the main character, despite his transgressions. My day job… I am the Director of Development for a regional law firm in Indiana where I oversee the business development and marketing campaigns. My responsibilities include managing the public relations efforts, corporate identity, web site, advertising and external communications, client entertainment and special events, contributions and sponsorships, and market research for our firm’s six offices. | Author bio: Lotus Rose is also the author of MachoPoni: A Prance with Death. He writes about young characters in strange situations. At times dark, silly, or bawdy, his writing owes much to such influences as Alice in Wonderland and Roald Dahl, and explores themes like disillusionment, and the corruption of innocence. If his books were movies, they'd likely be directed by Tim Burton. He often writes in a style that is a more edgy, “grown-up†version of children’s literature interspersed with his poetry and songs. Here's a short poem he wrote: O, shall I be like the lotus, And bring you dark dreams and soft sighs? Or shall I be like the rose is, Sweet-scented and tempting your eyes? For the unending sleep can seduce you, To the world behind unseeing eyes. And the beauty that beckons, then cuts you, Is also the cruelest of lies. |
