Sourdough Wind Mine | by Richard Puz Dec. 01, 2011 | You set the price! | 2293 words | Sample 10% |
| Author bio: Richard Puz’s books are well researched. They bring to life the stories of American settlers who lived two centuries ago. He has journeyed throughout the world and has spent months traveling across America to search out the locations for his books. His novels are currently in a series called Six Bulls. These include Avenge, Six Bulls-The Ohioans, and The Carolinian. The novels in the Six Bulls series draw from family tales about settlers who journeyed to the American frontier in the 1800s. Their stories, passed down through the generations, paint pictures of courageous and adventurous people—a hearty lot—who had perseverance, self reliance, and, despite dangers and the unknown, overcame their fears. Most were not famous or widely celebrated, yet they carved out homes, farms, and a life on the frontier, and, in the process, created a great nation. His observations follow: "American settlers are heroes in my eyes, and it is an honor to include some of their folklore in my novels. "From my research, I have a better understanding of the Native American’s plight. Despite being fierce and resourceful, they were ultimately swept aside by the oncoming tide of settlers. There came a time for understanding and compassion by the conquering invaders. In too many instances, this did not occur, and that disgraceful stain is part of our historical legacy. "Like those ancestors, I'm on a journey, too." |

Viking Saga | by Mark Coakley Nov. 07, 2009 | Free! | 69635 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Viking Saga is a pulse-pounding literary historical thriller, set in 793 AD, when Norway was ruled by many small kingdoms and folk still worshipped the old gods. Halfdan the Black -- a young fighter and beer-soaked poet, with a Norse father and African mother -- vows revenge for the killing of his king. Halfdan's fate leads him through actual historical events, such as the raid on England's Lindisfarne nunnery and the first Norse contacts with Christianity. This spare, cunningly ironic novel is set against a brutal backdrop of life in the "Dark Ages", and features violent action, a unique love-story, odd twists, cool humour, primitive poems and more. Well-researched and fast-moving, Viking Saga follows Halfdan the Black as he battles, boozes and rhymes his way to revenge, love, wisdom ... and becoming the first king of a unified Norway. |

I love horror movies, rhythmic noise, peanut butter, and the Munsters, not necessarily in that order. Please feel free to contact me if you want; I'd love to hear what you thought of the book. | Author bio: My whole motivation for writing is little more than a result of searching for something novel and unexpected to read. It's become rather difficult to find a good story that isn't predictable. While writing, I draw from my past experience as a former: police officer, Mensan, military man and war veteran, business man, manual laborer, restaurant manager. And current: dedicated father, habitual traveler, British humor fan, trivia junkie and truck driver. My studies in history, religion, mechanical and military engineering, politics, martial arts, biology, literature, and the culinary arts came in handy as well. Not that it matters, but my inspirations are Robert Heinlein, Clive Barker, Terry Pratchett and Christopher Moore. |

I teach university courses in the fields of Indigenous issues, applied and participatory anthropology, and Canadian studies. My fiction writing is inspired by commercial writers like Neil Gaiman and Charles De Lint; but also writers like Isabella Allende, Paulo Coleho, and Leslie Marmon Silko. I like to bur the line between fact and fiction, weaving the real together with the unreal and drawing deeply on my anthropological expertise and knowledge of cultural tropes, symbols, and mythologies. A lot of my stories are inspired by true events and explore themes around the spirit and mysteries of love, friendships and the greater powers and forces of the seen and unseen worlds. |

The Sweetest Empire | by Sally Patricia Gardner Nov. 10, 2011 | Free! | 89141 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: I am an 'accidental' novelist, as my first novel grew from a request to write an article for a local magazine, and no-one was more surprised at that than me. A former actor and a life-time animal nut, I now live in rural East Sussex with my husband and assorted rescued animals, 3 dogs and 6 cats at the time of writing. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the readers of Lillian’s Story,One Women's Journey through the 20th Century, my first novel, for their support and the feedback sent to me from all over the world. Many of you have asked if I have written other novels. Therefore it now gives me immense pleasure to be able to publish, on eBook and Kindle, my second novel, The Sweetest Empire. As a way of expressing my gratitude to everyone who has encouraged me to continue writing, this book will be available for download free of charge for a limited period. I hope you will enjoy it and recommend it to your friends. My third novel, Painting by Numbers, will be available on Smashwords very soon Thank you all. |

I'm With You Now | by Lindsey Skye Dec. 04, 2011 | Free! | 581 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: I'm currently working on my James Hadley series, the first two books are available for $0.99. The third will hopefully be published in either March or April, but the date keeps getting pushed back so I make no promises. Please have a look at the books, and all feedback is taken into consideration. The cover images for my James Hadley books are just temporary so there is a greater chance they will actually get noticed. I'm currently working on some better covers to replace them, but I'm quite busy so it's taking time. There is a chance there won't be any new covers until after I have published the third James Hadley book. I also feel like I've rushed my James Hadley series, so once I've published the third book I will probably go over all three of them and possibly publish some revised editions. After reading through some of my earlier work I know it's not the best, especially compared to my writing now, so some changes might have to be made. If I don't publish any revised editions, I will probably write a short guide to all the groups of people in the James Hadley universe, because I don't think I've explained it very well, in terms of who's who and how different/similar their world is compared to ours. If you want to ask me any questions about any of my books and stories, or to just tell me what you think of them, please feel free to email me at jameshadleylindseyskye@gmail.com. |

| Author bio: After having traveled across the majority of the United States and seen many of the quirky, odd, and beautiful things our nation has in it's hidden corners I have decided to settle in the backwoods Of Alaska. Here I hope to build a farm and Christian retreat, a place for myself and others to get away from the pressures of the world and find a little inner peace. Currently my only written work Is The Secret the the Sword, however this is only the first in a series of books. My favorite Author is the late Mr. Robert Jordan and I can only thank him and his wonderful imagination for inspiring me not only to write but to fall in love with the written word. It is my belief that if a person doesn't love reading, then they can't love writing. And truthfully this is a labor of love for me because I don't ever see myself getting rich from it. |
