Anger by Kennie Kayoz Anger by Kennie Kayoz Sep. 08, 2011 Free! 418 words Read a sample
Author bio:
Take 333-parts poetry and 333-parts of hate you get Kennie Kayoz: the perfect lethal combination of poetry and hate, whom himself has been labeled as 666 by his high school whom according to them should have spent time in the psych ward for things that he's said and poetry written while at school. Like the meaning of his name Kennie feels as if he's been born from the fire time and time again, and has been through various points in his life that have been utter kayotic. However he emerged from everything that life has seemed to throw at him many eBooks later Kennie is still looking at getting his name out there. Feeling unwanted by everyone around him since the age of 16, Kennie has not had an easy life which carries out into everything he does with an obvious edge. What he writes is real, and is what gives his words a distinction of others. The once #1 target of bullying at high school which started his controversial writing skills which really got him noticed by his teacher and principal when during a co-op class he wrote about being bullied from the moment he walked in the front doors at school in the morning till the moment that he gets off the bus at night the school was then set into "panic mode" as they then linked Kennie as a "Potential Threat" of pulling a "Columbine". They also pushed Kennie towards the schools psychologist to allow him someone to "Talk To", shortly after that Kennie found himself walking out of the doors never to return. After many trials and tribulations in his life after he dropped out he still managed to write on and off as his writing became an eerie prophecy for his own life. In late 2005 Kennie signed Crystal to Coyotes Publishing and just a few months later Kennie's struggles got worse as his father was killed by vehicular homicide. At the start of 2006 Kennie decided to take a huge chance with his poe-hatery as he established the ebook called "End Of The Poe-Hatery Era" in which he gathered up all that could be considered "Poe-Hatery" and released it followed that he went on to realize that "Poe-Hatery" was exactly who he was so he decided to take another huge chance and release "Be Yourself" a eBook with collabs by various independent artists (in various genres) as well as other independent poets and he released it it got a huge variety of notice all through out the internet, but when Kennie realized that he was the only one plugging it and none of the other artists were doing anything about the release he immediately pulled the release off of the internet. Shortly after that Coyotes Publishing as well as Kennie vanished from the likes of the internet.

Erynn A Louviaite is an aspiring writer, a romantic, a fantasy nerd, a supernatural fanatic, an avid King reader, an obsessed Pendragon fan, a Harry Potter expert, and a pseudonym... perhaps even as far as an "alter ego" of sorts. "Erynn A Louviaite" is an anagram actually, made from the letters of someone not quite as interesting and creative who wishes to remain anonymous for the time being. Author bio:
NB : la liste de tous mes livres se trouve en bas de page. NB: the list of all my books can be found further down. Bonjour à tous ! (en Français plus bas) / Hi everybody! The space here being rather small, I decided to write the text only in French (since the book is in French too and addresses mainly French speaking people). I would like to translate it into English, but lack of time and resources… You are nevertheless most welcome to send me a message at david.gayperret@gmail.com in English! And if you don't speak French but know people who do, you might be interested to join Smashwords affiliate system (http://www.smashwords.com/about/affiliate) and spread the word about my work! We both gain and I make sure you get a good share for your contribution. In any case thanks for stopping by! (and don’t hesitate to visit another website related to my work and in English this time: http://www.jamendo.com/en/artist/David_Gay-Perret).

He served on active duty for 23 years until retirement in 1974. He began his operational flying career in the F-86 and F-100 flying at various posts throughout the United States and Europe. He later served three combat tours, completing 452 combat sorties, first in the F-100 at Bien Hoa Air Base, South Vietnam, the F-4 at Ubon Royal Thai Air Base, Thailand, and then in Cambodia for two years to fly things with propellers on them and through a fluke in communications timing, to personally run the air war for a few weeks. He has also served two tours at the United States Space and Missile System Organization (SAMSO) at Los Angeles, California working first in the Satellites Control Facility and later as a staff developmental engineer for the space shuttle. In his expansive career he has seen service as an Air Attaché to the United States Embassy, Phnom Penh, Cambodia and also as Chief of Test Control Branch at the Air Development and Test Center at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. He also served as an instructor at the Air Force's Squadron Officer School. He completed jump school with the Special Forces. Later, he jumped with and was awarded Cambodian paratrooper wings. He also flew with and received Cambodian pilot wings. After leaving the Air Force he lived in Europe to establish and direct international operations for the sale of spares for combat aircraft. He has flown many foreign aircraft such as the Swedish Viggen and Royal Air Force Jaguar and Hawk. He also established Berent and Woods Inc, a firm that managed many aviation related activities. Over the years he had published numerous articles for such publications as Air Force Magazine and the Washington Times and for 18 years wrote a monthly pilot/reporter column for the Asian Defense Journal. Under the name Berent Sandberg he and Peter Sandberg collaborated on three novels. He now has five Vietnam air war flying novels in print, Rolling Thunder, Steel Tiger, Phantom Leader, Eagle Station, and Storm Flight. Berent states it is never too late for any endeavor: he published the first of his five books at age 58, ran his first Marathon at 59, bought a T-6 warbird and flew in airshows at 64, and rode in his first cattle roundup in Montana at 74. …………… "Powerful!" --- Publishers Weekly "The pride of the Air Force. The challenge of Vietnam." "A taut, exciting tale of good men in a bad war. Berent is the real thing." --- Tom Clancy "Rolling Thunder is terrific - a novel of exceptional authenticity that hits like a thunderclap. A decorated Vietnam pilot, Mark Berent knows planes and men and battle, and he whirls them around in a story of uncommon strength. I can't wait for his next book." --- W.E.B. Griffin, best-selling author of Brotherhood of War and The Corps "Mark Berent writes with great authority and utter realism, immersing the reader in his characters' every sensation and emotion." --- Dale Brown, best-selling author of Flight of the Old Dog and Silver Tower "The fighter pilot's war - you love it and hate it at the same time, and Mark Berent writes it that way." --- Stephen Coonts, best-selling author of Flight of the Intruder "Berent tells it like it was!" --- Chuck Yeager "The best Vietnam air novel I have read. Berent captures the essence of flying men at war, their agony, emotions, courage, and triumph." --- Brigadier General Robin Olds

Author bio:
I want to write. I want to lose myself in compelling narratives and adventures as they unfold in my mind and spill onto pages which will invariably result in a book by the time I am done. Writing started for me as a way to pass the time whenever I ran out of reading material or wanted to get rid of excess creative energy (I was an artist specializing in the painting medium (still am). Before I knew it, I was in love with the new freedom I could find only by putting pen to paper (or rather, fingers to a key-board). I wanted to delineate the characters I had dreamed into existence on a two dimensional surface with 3D fluidity. I have no idea if I have succeeded in this initial feat, but now I mainly long to see where they will take me to next. Of course I want much more than that as writing the story is only the first step for me. I want to present my books to the world in a fashion that captures the market for which they were intended. I want intrepid readers to meet the characters I have fallen in love with and perhaps, fall in love with them too. Dear reader, please let me know your impressions and thoughts by entering a rating and your opinion after reading my work. Thanking you in advance, Chris Adonn P.S. Snarly elves are my specialty. As many of my scattered reviews have mentioned, my elves -- actually a mixed elf/human population -- are different than most writers. Yeah, I do the fantasy writer thing, mostly in the world of the Far Isle Half-Elven. You can learn more about the history and heros of the Marches at my website: http://www.half-elven.com. An "early writer", a sixth grade writing assignment started my "writing career". The teacher asked for a short story for an English assignment. She got a Nancy Drew pastiche -- "The Clue of the Clay Cats" -- and gave me a "C" because, at 25 handwritten pages, I hadn't finished the story. [Most of the other kids only wrote two to four pages. *snarl*, *snarl*] The next summer, I finished a novel-length MG story. After five different "writing careers", I now write fantasy. The Half-Elven take up much of my time, but I also explore the world of Faerie and ghosts in some of the middle grade fiction [to be published by a publisher at a later date]. I mutter about my writing journey on my blog: Lessons from Reading. Not only do writers have to learn their craft, they must learn about all the new and wonderful and not-so-wonderful details of the world of publishing. This takes the form of book reviews, useful links about promotion, and answers to comments. Stop by my writer's blog (where I talk about being a writer in general, http://kaytheod.blogspot.com) and tell me what you think. You'll learn about my latest projects and headaches ... and sometimes, what's annoying me.

I enjoy putting custom computers together, video games, my mom, my wife, my dog, and learning useful information. I'm very good with accomplishing tasks despite not having the proper tools for the job. I do not like bees, spiders touching me, poison ivy, hearing Congress making illogical decisions, when my wife yells at me, when my mom yells at me, when my dog pees inside on the carpet, or when my computer crashes on me. I have a great sense of humor, a fine amount of wit, and use sarcasm very well. I also despise reality TV shows because my wife dominates the TV with them. I am friendly, understanding, and quite hospitable. I've never been in a fistfight, an accident, or on a plane. I'm also an expecting father. I'm also an expecting father a hair away from poverty. If I wasn't, I would most likely have a physical copy of my own books :) I wish I had the money to perform beneficial works to society for nothing in return, I wish I could paint and read and study and meditate all day, and I wish I could share the more important aspects of life with everyone.

In a city that never shuts down, there is no shortage of places to spend days and nights, and tourists are easy targets for making some good money. Night provided the perfect opportunity to improve my lifestyle, and when the sun roasted the desert, I hid out and banged away on a story that had haunted me for years. What started as a series of stories with nothing in common fell together with one common element...death. Once that piece of the puzzle hit me, the rest of it poured out onto the pages. A few rewrites later, and the After Life story begins. I hope you enjoy it, and let me know what you think...

I'm an amateur writer with zero interest in traditional publishing. Nothing against authors who still aim to squeeze a living from this moribund profession. I don't have the time or patience to mess around with that jazz. I write because I'm a fussy reader who struggled to find books worth reading at my local book shops. My shelves became littered with a grim collection of hardcovers and paperbacks I was unable to finish. It reached the point where if I wanted to be entertained by writing, I had to do it myself. My stories may be unusual, but I wouldn't call them literary or experimental. They depict ordinary people in extraordinary situations, free of the usual genre or commercial constraints. I might suggest that if you're looking for more of the same of whatever you've been reading, you'll have better luck looking elsewhere. I'm not particularly proud of any of my books, but some people seem to like them. I'm aiming higher. arrow.asp@gmail.com

I make my living in the world's two lowest-paying professions: acting and writing. While my resume includes stage and screen credits, I've spent the last several years wearing armor, riding horses, and swinging swords with The Seattle Knights. My publishing credits include plays, non-fiction articles, and short stories, one of which made The StorySouth Millions Writers Award Notable Stories of 2005. I've written five--no, six--novels to date, sold three of them in 2002, and am now re-releasing them under my own imprint, TFA Press. I am currently working on a non-fiction project. I also sing and write songs for A Little Knight Music and The Badb. If I had free time (which I don't), I'd spend it with horses. I'm married to artist/fight director Dameon Willich.

A Simple Misunderstanding by Richard Quinn A Simple Misunderstanding by Richard Quinn Aug. 14, 2011 Free! 2451 words Read a sample
Author bio:
In everyone’s life, there are a certain number of events or decisions, call them forks in the road, that influence just about everything that happens to us from that point forward. We pick one school or career over another, we meet the person who becomes our partner, we cross the street without looking and get hit by a truck. Fate? Serendipity? Random chance? Whatever you want to call it, these pivotal moments aren’t always obvious at the time, but they’re clear as a bell in retrospect, and when you string them all together, they define who we are more surely than our DNA. A case in point for me personally is something that happened in January of 1971, when I was a 20 year old student at Antioch College in Ohio. Born and raised in the Arizona desert, I was fed up with snowy mid-western winters, so I took a break from school, pointed myself south, stuck out my thumb at the side of a road, and dropped off the edge of the world. When I re-emerged, three months later, I’d covered a distance of nearly 7,000 miles, almost all of it by land. I’d crossed the Andes mountain range six times, I’d camped overnight in the ruins at Machu Picchu, I’d traveled the length of the Atacama desert with a circus, and I’d finally fetched up on the shores of a turquoise lake in southern Chile, near the ultimate end of the road in Tierra del Fuego. I hadn’t planned that trip, and had only the vaguest notion of what I was getting into when I started. I just sort of spontaneously DID it, and the overall experience was literally life changing. When I got back to school, I switched my major from psychology to anthropology, and three months after that, I returned to South America. I completed my studies independently, doing field work at an "off-catalog" archaeological site on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, as well as ethnographic research high up in the snow-capped mountains immediately above those coastal ruins, among the descendants of the people who had built them, as much as a thousand years before. All told, I spent the best part of five years in the northern Andes. Some of my field work was formally sanctioned by a Colombian University, and by the Colombian National Museum. The rest of it, quite frankly, was not, but either way, it was the real deal--Indiana Jones without the stunt doubles and the special effects. I slogged through unmapped jungles and climbed lofty peaks in search of lost ruins--and I actually found a few. I dug for buried treasure, and I found a bit of that as well. I spent time with remote tribes who were living in a world so distant from ours that it may as well have been another planet, and I viewed wild, exotic landscapes that are the stuff of mist-shrouded dreams. All of that was exciting, often exhilarating, but it most certainly wasn't an easy way to make a living, because Colombia, back in the 1970’s, was not an easy place to be. What started out as great good fun got pretty serious when a landslide and flood wiped out my house. Then there were the potentially deadly tropical fevers, the anti-government riots with stone-throwing mobs faced off against troops armed with machine guns, not to mention the drug cartels, the corrupt militias, and the occasional stray bullet whizzing past my ear. I wasn't looking for that kind of trouble, but when it's everywhere around you, it's impossible to avoid. There were times when the trouble got quite personal: while living and working in Colombia, I was the victim of robbery, assault, extortion, false arrest and imprisonment, and the target of an attempted kidnapping. I survived earthquakes, killer volcanoes, a serious machete wound, and at least one shrieking, screaming, blood-on-the-highway bus wreck. If what I've just described sounds more like an ordeal than an adventure, I’d have to say that every grand adventure extracts a price, and in my case, the positives I encountered were well worth any hardship I might have endured. I came to know those mountains and their people in a way touched me to my core, and I experienced beauty of an intensity that’s both rare and noble. More than four decades have passed since that day when I set out hitch-hiking south, and I’ve had many other life-changing moments in the interim, many more shiny pearls in the strand of my personal destiny. Looking back now, as I head toward retirement, I can’t help focusing on THAT one. Because that one? Man, oh man, that one was really a doozy. Chivor, my first major work of fiction, draws heavily on my experience during that period of time. Guajira, the second volume in the Chivor trilogy, is well underway, and should be complete sometime next year.

Born in London, England, I started my working career as a mechanic until I was made redundant. I then trained to work in IT where I have been since 1995. I started writing as a way to make extra money, not knowing how difficult it was. In that time I found I really loved writing. After many, many submissions to agents I found no success. Self publishing has opened up a whole new world for me. I have started a business and have a 10 year plan. I will write at least 3 books per year and revise my situation in 5 years. I hope to be able to write full time within my 10 year plan.

In my forty something years I have generated a very broad set of experiences and interests, but through it all, I have always read. It seems that at times it is harder to find books that enthrall me, although admittedly I am behind on my reading, so I decided to start writing the kind of stories I'd want to read. I have always had stories in my head, they intrude at the strangest times. At some point, I discovered that when I took the time to write them down, more stories kept pouring out. There are so many ideas I have, it seems like there won't be enough time to get to them all. I'm starting with one story, in one particular style. But other stories, in different styles are coming. Stay tuned. My goal in writing is above all to entertain. Thank you in advance for giving me that opportunity.
